Script Calibration Cohort for AQA A-level English Language (2027 Exams)

Think like an examiner. Train to write at A/A* level.

Most students don’t lose marks because they lack knowledge.

They lose marks because they don't write responses that align with how examiners actually award marks.

This programme trains students to think like an examiner and produce responses that consistently reach the top bands.

Text section

This is examiner-led training

Most tuition focuses on content.

This programme focuses on how marks are actually awarded.

Students are trained to think like an examiner — developing the precision, control and clarity required to produce consistent A/A* responses.

Who is this for?

This programme is designed for students who are capable of achieving top grades, but are not yet doing so consistently.

It is best suited to students who:

• are working at Grade B–C and aiming for A/A*
• can grasp concepts, but need to refine how they apply them in writing
• are ready to take a more disciplined, exam-focused approach
• are committed to improving through consistent practice and feedback

How the programme works

This is not about doing more work — it’s about learning how to produce the work that elevates grades.

Weekly Script Calibration Sessions

Students attend a live weekly session focused on analysing real exam responses, modelling high-level answers and applying these techniques to their own writing.

Examiner-Led Modelling

Each session demonstrates what top-band responses look like in practice — and how marks are actually awarded — giving students a clear benchmark for their own work.

Structured Skill Development

The programme follows a clear progression, developing the precision, control and consistency required to produce high-level responses across all question types.

Ongoing Resource Access

Students receive access to model responses, materials and recordings to support independent revision and consolidation throughout the programme.

About the programme lead

The programme is led by an experienced A-level English Language teacher and examiner.

With over 20 years’ experience supporting students to achieve top grades, it is built on her detailed assessment insights.

It focuses on not only on what students should write but also how examiners actually interpret and reward responses at the highest level.

Students are taught to write with precision, clarity and control, developing the consistency required to perform successfully under exam conditions.
